FRUSTRATED…Don’t Be
Let’s face it all of us have experienced Frustration when it comes to personal issues. But what do we do when we feel frustrated and the roadblock comes from God Himself? What would you think if I were to tell you, that sometimes God uses frustration to get our attention? After all, it can help us think about things we wouldn’t otherwise consider and perhaps redirect our path toward something new Or even different.
Let’s be reminded of the story of BALAAM found in Numbers 22: 21-41. Allow me to give you a little background: At the request of King Balak’s request. Balaam traveled nearly 400 miles to curse Israel, Balak took Balaam to Bamonth-baal (“the high places of Baal”), then to Pisgah Peak, and finally to Mount Peor. Each place looked over the plains of Moab, where the Israelites were camped. But to the king’s dismay, Balaam blessed, not cursed Israel.
The story gets even better, because God used a “TALKING” Donkey to protect Balaam. Instead of being grateful Balaam struck the donkey several times.
God was so angry with Balaam that He put Himself as the Angel of the LORD. This Angel took His stand in the way of Balaam with His drawn sword. Once God opened the donkey’s mouth and let her speak, Balaam’s eyes were also opened to see God Himself- the Angel of the LORD.
So…, when you are harried by feelings of anxiety or restlessness, don’t rush to bury or escape them. Instead, consider them as promptings by the Holy Spirit, as if your conscience is saying, “it’s time to turn inward, listen and process your feelings.” Rest assured if these stirrings are from God, they won’t go away and they will reoccur. May we be obedient by sitting quietly and waiting for Him to speak to us. God just might have a new path or direction for you to take. It’s in those moments when we are still before our creator that we realize how much He Loves us, by sending something very specific to set us on a new path with Him. What a blessing to have our sovereign Creator involved in our personal life-so invested, in fact, that He may bring frustration in order to show us a better way.
