Many of us have a Quiet soundtrack running through our mind, and the volume is turned down so low we can barely hear it. But then there are those of us Who voice that complaint and the volume in that, I would have to say is loudly understood.
I just got Cut Off in Traffic, someone holds up traffic to do a little texting. How is it that the person standing in line behind you decides to answer a call and carries on as if they were actually at home in the privacy of their home.. How about making a phone call and you get transferred around more than you like. Again…”Grumbling about the irritation and annoyance of everyday life can become an unconscious habit,,. at least until we try to turn it off. In (2 Timothy 3:1-5), Paul lists a string of behaviors that mark the life of those who have disconnected from the Lord. In addition to things like selfishness, arrogance, and greed, or how about “I’m not getting my way! That list also includes ungratefulness. Being grateful helps us learn to change our thinking from complaint and instead teaches us to focus on the many blessings God gives us each day, both big and small.
I don’t have to tell anyone that complaining is certainly not a fruit of the Spirit ( Galatians 5:22-23). A complaining spirit is, in fact, detrimental to the peace, joy, and patience that comes from the Spirit.
Gratitude doesn’t mean presenting a smile to your face. Instead, our thankfulness reconnects us with God in the midst of the everyday challenges of life while teaching us to sing a new song.., not one of complaining but one that would continuously reflect the joy of their Salvation throughout eternity.
Application

- Remember, God knows what He is doing…
- Put away past complaints that may have become bitterness…
