For God so loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
As we are well into this Holy season, many have hit the ground running the day after Thanksgiving. For me, one thing this Pandemic has taught me, was to slow down. However, many have picked up where they left off in 2020. Christmas once again will dominate the minds of millions of Americans.
In a Post-Christian culture, Jesus is no longer the reason for Christmas. Instead, the reason appears to be Family gatherings, food, gift giving and parties galore…. Don’t get me wrong, those things in and of themselves aren’t bad things. It’s when we forget why we are doing them.
The true meaning of Christmas is love. John 3:16-17 says , “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world but to save the world through him.” In essence, the true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of this incredible act of love.
No other verse in the Bible so succinctly summarizes God’s relationship with humanity and the way of salvation. John 3:16 tells us of the love God has for us and the extent of that love — so great that He sacrificed His only Son on our behalf. John 3:16 teaches us that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, will be saved. John 3:16 gives the glorious hope of eternal life in heaven through the love of God and death of Jesus Christ. Now my friend that Good News is worth celebrating! Amen
If you don’t know Jesus, ask God to forgive you of your Sins and believe in your heart that Jesus is the the Son of God.. You are saved.. Jesus is the gift that deserves our focus and celebrating!
