Today Is Not Tomorrow, And Tomorrow Is Not Today
For the moment I’m going to transition this idea to the spiritual life and here’s how: The world we live in today is not the world we may be living in tomorrow. The passion for Christ we have today, unless deepened and nurtured, may not be sufficient for the challenges of tomorrow. We must as believers, not become complacent in our devotion to the Lord. It is only when we stay vigilant in reading Gods Word, staying focused on His Kingdom Agenda, while remaining steadfast and obedient to His Word, will we be prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.
We understand the requirement to persist and grow in maturity in the Christian life as a general principle. But think more broadly: Think about you really making a difference. The Bible is clear: Things are likely to get worse before they get better (2 Timothy 3:13), and we must be ready. We have to ask that question because what lies ahead of us has never happened before: the final events in God’s prophetic calendar before the return of Christ for His Church. We have faced ” tomorrows” full of normal human challenges, but none will equal the challenges that may lie ahead. Today is not tomorrow in terms of the challenges we are likely to face as the birth pangs of a world awaiting redemption grows stronger (Romans 8:19-22). We must prepare today for the challenges of tomorrow.
