We Can Count On God

People come and people go, and each season turns into the next; continual change is normal in our life.  Praise God, this is not the case with God, who is “the same yesterday and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).  Though human leaders have much to offer, we must keep our eyes on Christ, our ultimate leader.   Unlike any human leaders, he will never change.  Christ has been and will be the same forever.  In a changing world we can trust our unchanging God

OMNISCIENT:.  Our Father knows what is happening for every person at every moment (Proverbs 15:3).  His knowledge is complete, no circumstance is hidden from Him; there is no motive or thought process that He does not discern. At times it seems that God has let evil run rampant in the world and we often wonder if He even notices it.  But God sees everything clearly, both the evil actions and the evil intentions lying behind the deeds, (Proverbs 15:11).  He is not an indifferent observer.  He cares and is active in our world.  Right now, His work may be unseen and unfelt, but don’t give up.  One day he will wipe out evil and punish the evildoers, just as He will establish the good and reward those who do His Will.

OMNIPOTENT:  God has power over all things; nothing is outside His control.  No authority in heaven or on earth can thwart His purposes (Job 42:2-4). Job was quoting the Lord’s earlier questions to him (Job 38:2-3).  Job openly and honestly faced God and admitted that he was the one who had been foolish.  Are you using what you can’t understand as an excuse for your lack of trust?  Admit to God that you don’t even have enough faith to trust Him.  True faith begins in such humility.

OMNIPRESENT: There’s no person, place, or thing in all of creation that’s outside of God’s presence (Psalm 139:7-12).Did you know that all space and time are within God’s sight?  In addition to these excellent traits, God always speaks the truth (Titus 1:2). Apparently lying was commonplace in Crete (Titus 1:12).  Paul made it clear at the start that God does not lie.  The foundation of our faith is trust in God’s character.  Because God is Truth, He is the source of all truth, and He cannot lie.  Believing in Him leads to living a God-honoring lifestyle (Titus 1:1).  The eternal life that God has promised will be ours because He keeps His promises. Thus, build your faith on the foundation of a trustworthy God who never lies.  We can fully trust the reliability of His Word and His responses to our prayers.

Lastly, because God’s character is not affected by time, place, people, or circumstances, He is more trustworthy than even the closest friend you have.  When our plans have failed and people have disappointed us, He is always there.  For all our days, God is the One we can count on.
