When God Seems Silent

                                        When God Seems Silent

I don’t know about you, but when I have a series of things going on in my life.  I have an urgent  need to pray.  I might also add that those prayers become fervent and my desire for a quick answer intensifies.  It seems that if the Lord doesn’t intervene soon, the very thing I dread most just might happen.  Especially, if there’s ongoing silence and no detectable answer or response from God.  Sometimes, I begin to wonder if He really cares? But…Scripture assures me He does.    (1Peter 5:7).

I’m reminded of how Mary and Martha felt after asking Jesus to come heal their brother Lazarus.  (John 11:12 ). They knew the Lord loved them, but when He didn’t show up on time, their pain overtook their faith.  Both women voiced their disappointment: “If You had been here, my brother would not have died”  (John 11:21,32).

If we are honest, with ourselves, we’ve all said or thought something along that line when God didn’t answer our prayers as we had hoped.  But unlike Mary and Martha, we know from Scripture that God’s purpose in all His choices for us is for His glory (John 11:4). His goal is not to inflict pain unnecessarily, but to let Christ’s life shine through us in hardship, to sustain our confidence in God’s goodness, and to strengthen our trust in His loving sovereignty. His glory is for our good, and in this we can rejoice.    Amen!                    Read :  ( John 11:1-44).
